Whats WronG with Poly B?
If you have polybutylene pipe in your house here is why you should consider changing it
Poly B was widely used in homes from 1970- mid 1990s

But it has since proven unreliable and prone to failure. Exposure to chlorine and other oxidants causes the material to become brittle and degrade from the inside out, often without visible warning. This can lead to sudden leaks or catastrophic pipe bursts.

Because of its known failure risks, many insurance companies limit or deny coverage on homes with Poly B and it can negatively impact property value.
Why is PEX any better?
Cross-linked polyethylene is a major upgrade from Poly B because it is enigeered to handle modern water conditions without breaking down. It is highly resistant to chlorine and chemical degradation, so it doesn't become brittle over time. It's also flexible, which allows it to expand and contract with temperature changes - making it far less likely to crack or burst in freezing conditions.
It's not the same pipe type!
Many leaks that we find are actually due to improper connections made later than the original installation
If you are doing a renovation don't let your contractor hide connections to the existing Poly B. A proper certified Poly B removal means that every piece in the entire home is removed (with possible exception of an underground service line). Our Poly B removals are done properly. This often means a witness through city or municipality to verify we haven't missed anything and that the piping is up to current codes.

The Delta T Difference
Accessible shut of valves for your outdoor taps. Are you tired of trying to reach for that shut off and drain in the fall? Tired of the silly little drain cap on the side of those valves. With our home run hose bibs we provide an easy to reach isolation valve and an easy to operate drain. This way it's easy to protect your outdoor taps from freezing. As an added bonus we install frost proof hose bibs whenever possible; because, why not? The frost free drains water out of the cold area when it is shut off, prolonging your outdoor water use in the shoulder seasons and decreasing the chance of your bibs freezing. As per code these bibs have an integral vacuum breaker; protecting your potable water from contamination.
Whenever it is practical and beneficiary we like to rough-in a hot water recirculation line to the furthest fixture in your house. This makes it easy to add a pump and give you instant hot water at the taps upstairs. New circulators have built-in temperature intellegence. Keep up with energy conservation and let Delta T help you do it!
